We have all read reports of equipment shortages for the troops and heard stories of families having to buy modern body armourer for family members abroad. Now we learn that it may take up to 2 years before the Army can fully deploy the new mine resistant vehicles that our troops need now. I just can't understand how it will take so long to equip our troops considering the fact that at 1 point of WW2 we were launching 'Victory Ships' at the rate of one a day. I realize that we are not the manufacturing economy we once were, but this is still America and our troops NEED this equipment NOW! I would ask anyone who reads this to support the following plan to expedite
getting the troops equipment. A nickel a gallon federal gas tax dedicated to military equipment. This is politically neutral,not that we the people should consider politics but we know the politicians will. Either party that wouldn't endorse plan would be seen as not supporting the troops. This is political suicide. I took a few minutes of my time this weekend to write both my Senators and my congressman to ask their support, won't you join me?
