I have to argue against the current bill being proposed by GW and the many democratic supporters it has. Factually,1/2 of 'illegals' are people who have sneaked across the border from the south, the other 1/2 come from visa over stays. This only goes to the fact that the U.S. does not know who is in country or how they got here. Not even mentioning how many, I've tried to keep up with the news and the estimates range from 12-20 million undocumented aliens here right now.
As I understand it our current system puts equal limits on each country, I believe it to be 30,000...DO we need 30,000 Mexicans or Romanians? 1st let's set visa limits on what we need and who can fulfill those needs and adjust the number to our needs. This is where congress comes in.
2nd , the Executive branch has control of prioritizing U.S. Attorneys. This means that the President already has the authority to control priorities. The President has all the tools at his disposal to enforce immigration right now. Punish employers who violate hiring laws, deport undocumented citizens, enforce our borders and keep track of the visas. We have the law on the books to enforce immigration as it stands. We don't need this bill, we need leadership from the executive branch and congress.
Don't let some fool you and say that what we need is new smart cards to prove your citizenship. The Nazis used to call these 'internal documents'. Forgive my swearing, but I'll be dammed as will America, if we have to show some kind of internal passport to travel from New York to California.
Civil rights don't get taken away from you all at once, they disappear in increments. We've already had enough incremental erosion of our civil rights. This will not happen without a fight from this little man.
